SILVER? GOLD? PLATINUM! (MARYLIN MONROE + LINDA EVANGELISTA + BLONDIE)

Lately it really does seem like blondes have more fun, and not just blonde…platinum blonde. Light hair has been all the rage lately, all of your favorite celebrities have been heading to the salon for that icy look. However, this trend isn’t a new one starlets have been sporting this silvery style since the 50’s. Marylin Monroe, originally a brunette picked up a bottle of peroxide before her first screen test and not long after that, her platinum blonde curls became her signature. Her stage name says it all, Blondie was well known for her bright locks although Debbie Harry was born a brunette. Super model Linda Evangelista took the plunge in the 90‘s trading her natural deep brunette mane for something about ten shades lighter. Making the leap from dark brow hair to blonde seems to be a crucial career move for a number of celebrities giving them that little bit of extra “oomph” that takes them to the next level.

After Linda Evangelista went platinum she wouldn’t get out of bed for less than
$10,000 a day. Don’t you want to go blonde after hearing that?

BLONDIE…enough said.
With all that being said, you’re probably dialing your hairstylists number to book your blonde appointment. Slow down Marylin and lets talk maintenance. Platinum is a stand out color and can be achieved by pretty much anyone but not overnight. There’s only one way to achieve this hue and that’s bleach, lots of bleach. Don’t expect for your transformation to take place right away, the darker your hair the longer the process. In order to keep the integrity of your hair in tact your stylist should lighten your hair in sessions. Gradually lightening the hair will keep it healthy and in the best condition possible. This is a high upkeep style as you won’t want dark roots contrasting against the light blonde shade (and if you do that’s a different style and blog post entirely). You’ll need to have a root touch up every couple of weeks depending on how fast your hair grows. Use a nourishing shampoo and conditioner throwing in a deep conditioning treatment once or twice a week to keep your locks silky smooth.
Well…what are you waiting for? Always wanted to be a blonde? There’s no better time than the present! Make the change and find out if blondes really do have more fun!
