Find The Perfect Cut For Your (Round) Face Shape

As we discussed in our last post there are many factors that can go into determining the perfect haircut for you as an individual. However, The most important element is identifying the shape of your face. In this face shape series we will help you identify the cut that will work best for you. So here is the question? What is your Face Shape? Heart, Long, Round, Square, Oval or Diamond? Today we discuss the Round Face Shape.
ROUND
A round shape face is just about equal in width and length.
CELEB ROUND SHAPE: Kate Bosworth, Olivia Munn, Charlize Theron, Mila Kunis, Emma Stone, Kirsten Dunst, Adele
What is the perfect hairstyle of a Round Shaped Face? The secret to accentuating a round face is to create the illusion of length!
Do you have medium to long curly hair?
  • Ask your stylist for choppy layers through the back and bottom of your hair to give it some shape and sex appeal.
Do you have Straight hair?
  • The golden rule to remember is that round faces need a style that has longer layers that fall into place and frame your face.
  • The goal is to lengthen your cheeks making them look slimmer and your cheekbones more structured.
  • Try a modern bob cut with layers that fall softly on to the face.
Fringe options: Long wispy fringe will look great for a round face. If your hair is thicker, a longer fringe that you can sweep to the side will lengthen your face.
Color you sexy: Low lights at the side of the face and lighter highlights at the top of the head will create the illusion of lustrous length.
AVOID:
  • Chin length hair with a rounded line that mirrors face’s circular shape.
  • Center parts.
  • Short-short cropped bangs.
  • Fullness at side of ears.
  • A rounded haircut ending at the chin will add weight to your face shape, because the widest part of your face is at the cheeks and ears. It will make your face appear wider.
  • Whether your hair is long or short, if it’s prone to a wave or curl, avoid at all costs ending up with a rounded ‘bubble cut’.
ALWAYS: Take a few photos of styles you like and take them to your hairdresser. They can best advise you on what will work best with your face shape, personality and lifestyle.
Next post we will discuss the Square Face Shape.

Find The Perfect Cut For Your (Long) Face Shape: Long

As we discussed in our last post there are many factors that can go into determining the perfect haircut for you as an individual. However, The most important element is identifying the shape of your face. In this face shape series we will help you identify the cut that will work best for you. So here is the question? What is your Face Shape? Heart, Long, Round, Square, Oval or Diamond? Today we discuss the Long Face Shape.
Long
A Long shaped face is longer than it is wide with a long straight cheek line.
CELEB LONG SHAPE: Courtney Cox, Angelina Jolie, Sarah Jessica Parker, Liv Tyler, Kim Kardashian, Meryl Streep, Lisa Kudrow
What is the perfect hairstyle for a Long Shaped Face?
Breathe a sigh of relief: you are certainly not short on style options.
Do you have long, fine hair?
  • Go shorter so your hair looks thicker and your face looks wider. A cut that is unstructured can be worn messy or edgy, which is a time saver.
  • If you like a more groomed sophisticated look a one-length modern cut with layers will give you that edge of sleek glam.
Is your hair thick, coarse and curly?
  • Lucky you! Your hair is a playground and the results can only be positive.
Fringe options:
  • Unfortunately in the fringe area it’s not a case of anything goes for you.
  • Disguise a long forehead with a thick blunt, cut. You’ll be surprised how feminine it makes you look.
  • Steer clear of a fringe if you have a small forehead – it will just emphasize the length of the rest of your face.
COLOR: A trick to make your face appear shorter and wider is to add highlights at the sides.
AVOID: Too much hair length around the face area or height will lengthen your face. My overall suggestion is keep the length above the shoulders. When your hair gets past your shoulders there is a good chance it will do you more harm than good.
ALWAYS: Take a few photos of styles you like and take them to your hairdresser. They can best advise you on what will work best with your face shape, personality and lifestyle.

Finding The Perfect Cut For Your (Heart) Face Shape By John Francis

There are many factors that can go into determining the perfect haircut for you as an individual. However, The most important element is identifying the shape of your face.In this face shape series we will help you identify the cut that will work best for you. So here is the question? What is your Face Shape? Heart, Long, Round, Square, Oval or Diamond?

Heart

Think of a heart! A heart shaped face is wide at the forehead and the cheekbones are slightly wider than the hairline. The chin narrows at the jawline into a pointed chin.
CELEB HEART SHAPE: Reese Witherspoon, KourtneyKardashian, Halle Berry
What is the perfect hairstyle, for a heart shaped face?
  • Avoid top-heavy cuts and no one will be able to resist your sweetheart sex appeal.
  • Choose a style that will create volume around the bottom of your face.
  • Do you have thick, long hair? Ask for soft layers to soften your chin area, but keep the layers cut as close to your jaw line as possible so that they can fall on to your face.
  • Long, curly locks will look fantastic on a heart-shaped face if you keep them soft and loose.
  • Ask your hairdresser to cut them round so that the layers fall lightly and frame your face.
  • A short bob shape works great for a heart shape and is a modern and sexy style.
  • Fringe options: A slightly shorter, wispy fringe is low-key but will look beautiful.
  • Color you sexy: Highlight hair above the ears to widen your face and low light above.
AVOID: Short, full styles that emphasize upper face. Too much height at the crown will give the appearance of a longer and narrower chin. Just remember if you have a dramatic heart shape face, you have great cheekbones to show-off!

ALWAYS:
Take a few photos of styles you like and take them to your hairdresser. They can best advise you on what will work best with your face shape, personality and lifestyle.
